Starting Small: Why Our Homestead Dream Begins with Beeswax Wraps

Posted on April 11, 2025 by Heartland Haven Farm

Some people start their homesteading journey with chickens. Others dig a garden or build raised beds. Me? I started with beeswax.

When you dream of a self-sustaining farm, it can feel overwhelming. Land is expensive, animals need daily care, and there’s always something that requires attention. I still wanted to start something tangible that I could hold and share with others.

I made my first batch of beeswax food wraps in my small kitchen. I melted the wax, mixed in pine resin and jojoba oil, and brushed it onto cotton fabric. They weren’t perfect, but they smelled amazing, worked well, and felt like a small victory in a big dream.

That’s the spirit of Heartland Haven. We are building our farm step by step, starting with handmade items created with care. If you are dreaming too, know it’s okay to start with what you have—even if it’s just a square of beeswax.

Thanks for being here. 💛

From Simple Scents to Cozy Spaces: The Joy of Creating Handmade Products

Posted on November 4, 2025 by Heartland Haven Farm

When I first began making handmade products, I thought it would be just a creative hobby. But there is something special about taking simple ingredients, mixing them carefully, and turning them into something beautiful and useful.

My kitchen slowly became a small workshop. Mason jars lined the counter, the air smelled like peppermint and vanilla, and each batch of foaming hand soap felt like a little piece of joy in a bottle. Every scent tells a story—warm cinnamon for cozy fall days, fresh pine for Christmas mornings, and lavender for calm evenings.

Making these products is not only about the items themselves, but also the feeling they create. A clean home, a comforting scent, and a handmade touch remind us to slow down and enjoy life’s little moments. That is what Heartland Haven is all about.

If you have ever thought about making something yourself—soap, candles, or even a simple loaf of bread—give it a try. You may be surprised by how much peace it brings to your day.

Thank you for following our journey and being part of this handmade adventure. 🌿
